We were asked by a repeat client to provide Labour, Plant and Materials at very short notice to carry out urgent upgrades to existing Prison Video Conference Rooms at Her Majesty’s Prison, Durham.  The existing Video Conference Rooms, used for Prisoner Virtual Court appearances, had failed a recent sound test which could have had potentially disastrous consequences for cases heard using those rooms.  The package involved protecting in-situ Cameras, Screens, etc. and the careful removal of existing Partitions and Ceilings followed by their reinstatement to the correct Specification to achieve 62 RwdB.  Works inside working Prison facilities are always problematic, from the requirements for all staff to have DBS checks, to the extended time scales caused by Security Screening at entry and egress but added to the mix was the added complications of the works being completed under strict Covid-19 social distancing restrictions.
